Before Caribana, Know Which Party To Attend

There was so much controversy on which parties were the best parties during Caribana. At the end of the day, there are thousands of people visiting at once so technically every party should be fun (that is, if you make it that way). Here’s a guide to the parties I attended. I used group chats on GroupMe to help discover where everyone else attended.

Friday Pool Party:

According to the Caribana vets, everyone had to attend DayLIGHT which is known as the ‘LeBron James pool party’. He was known to make visits at this party in the past, and yup he was there again this year. Now, as I said above, beware of scammers. There was a second pool party added called DayLIT. DayLight was on TicketGateway but DayLit was a completely different party that was added to hotel packages. (If you haven’t already read my full article, don’t forget to see why I hated the hotel packages). There were plenty of people that didn’t realize there was a difference between the pool parties and of course DayLIT was not issuing refunds. At that point, the only thing left to do was file a claim with their bank.

Anyways, the pool party was lit, it rained half the time, but for most people, that didn’t stop the show. Island people are used to the rain. When buying your ticket, please be aware the actual pool is reserved for those with pool side cabanas or you have to pay an additional $20 entrance fee *rolls eyes*. It doesn’t make sense and to be honest, no one was actually in the pool. It was a huge swimsuit fashion show.

Jouvert:

If you’re attending Jouvert, make sure to wear all white (and probably something you’ll never wear again). Before we even walked through security, there were guys going crazy with home depot buckets full of oil. Yes oil! I can’t even describe how disgusting it looked lol. But this party was outdoors and paint & powder was flying from every where. At one point they had a water hose spraying water on the crowd (mind you it’s like 65 degrees outside so we were already cold). This is the only party where it is completely okay for women to wear shower caps and bonnets over their hair. Don’t forget to pack a hat! Note: Jab Jab Jouvert was the correct party. There was another ‘One big duty’ Jouvert party floating around too but as I said before know which party is more popular.

Sunday Blocko:

After the parade hangover, i’m not sure how everyone made it to Sunday Blocko. The place was packed! Most women didn’t bother wearing heels (it was just that type of day lol). Everyone was cute and comfortable which means it was nothing but good vibes and dancing everywhere. The DJ’s played the same songs at least three times which was a complete disaster but we still partied as if it was brand new. The party was supposed to end at 7 but I think everyone was enjoying themselves that no one wanted to leave. They gave us an extra 30 minutes then we ended up having a parking lot party because traffic was a mess coming in and going out. (I recommend telling your uber to pick you up from the street).
