I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! This pop up interactive museum is every child’s ultimate fantasy and every Instagrammers’ photo shoot dream. Lets face it, us millenials live for the gram and social media. Once you visit you feel like it’s the ‘cherry on top’ to have been somewhere so exclusive-leaving your followers to wonder how they can get there. Lets dig in shall we?
LOCATION: The museum started in New York and has grown to be bigger and better currently located in Los Angeles, California. San Francisco will be the next location opening September 17-October 30, 2017.
TICKETS: If you are interested in visting the museum, make sure you follow @museumoficecream on Instagram as well as sign up for the email list to be notified of sale dates. Tickets went on sale for $30 at 9am in LA and I was up and ready at 8:45. I heard rumors that they sold thousands of tickets in just one week so I wasn’t going to take any chances for them to sell out on me. I sat at the kitchen table with 2 computers, 2 ipads and 3 iphones. Can we say ready??? Ha ha. As soon as 9:00 hit, I started to refresh all my pages & it took 30 minutes of the ultimate stare down before I finally reached my que in line. If you plan to buy tickets, it’s best if you put your name (or whoever is going) on all of the tickets. They have to verify at least one person with a valid I.D. to match a name on the tickets. I bought 5 tickets and placed my name on each because I had no clue who was going with me. I ended up having to resell two of them, and the other party just met me out front. If you don’t get tickets, make sure to check out ebay/craigslist/ stubhub and assure that your seller has their name on at least one of the tickets to guarantee entry. Keep in mind this is an exclusive event; therefore sellers will go extreme with prices.
*Children 2 and under are free.
INSIDE SCOOP: Once inside, you are on a self guided tour with the only request that you do not touch any of the displays and you do not go backwards. It was an easy flow room to room and the staff will rush you if you are holding up one exhibit (yes we all want the perfect photo), but take a few pics and get back in line if you aren’t satisfied. You can spend hours in the museum if it excites you that much. The main attraction- the sprinkle pool, is the only exhibit that’s timed. In groups of 10, you have exactly 2 minutes to swim away in the plastic sprinkles. It goes QUICK so be ready. Lockers are available because you are not permitted to wear shoes or have any loose articles. Samples of different ice creams, gummy bears and Dove chocolate will be available as you stroll through.
I hope this guide helps and you are able to visit the fantasy land. Check out all my favorite photos here:
