Dear Diary,
So it’s not December or January but you still want to have a vision board party? How about planning a themed party that relates all year long? My niche is TRAVEL so I have decided to host a travel themed party. People travel all year long so I thought “why not host a party in June”? That’s the second half of the year which gives people time to reflect on their previous New Years Resolution board and it’s also a new boost to complete the year strong. I encourage everyone to take the time and make a vision board. The law of attraction simply states “like attracts like” which means energies tie together (in other words: what you think about, you bring about).
Perhaps travel isn’t your main focus: maybe your a school teacher and want to host a vision board party with fellow teachers right before the school year starts to help you remember why you love to teach when the kids get on your last nerve (btw: this was a super run on sentence just to irritate you lol). Or, maybe you’re a college student that wants the vision to succeed. Placing your future goals on a board somewhere that you can see it will motivate you on those long study nights. Perhaps your a new couple, or looking to start a family-what are you goals? Find your niche and find like minded people to join you in creating. Hold each other accountable.
Here’s a few tips from my vision board party:
✈ Send Out Invites Early
Try to send out invites as early as possible, this will give your guests time to be available. The sooner you send the invite, the sooner they can start collecting materials and planning their vision.
✈ Gather Materials!
You can provide all of the materials (as I’ve done) or to save yourself some coins, you can simply tell your guest to bring their own materials that way you aren’t worrying about trying to exceed guest expectations.
The necessities: Poster board (foam boards are the best) ✈ Scissors ✈ Glue sticks ✈ Markers ✈ and magazines of course. Lots and lots of magazines! Anything else you can think of to make the board cuter would be extra but certainly not mandatory: Glitter, construction paper, modge podge, stickers, etc.
✈ Collect Magazines
Since my party was all about travel, I was on a serious man hunt for travel magazines. Every time I walked through an airport, I was picking up whatever free magazine they had on the racks. My friends thought I wan delusional, but at the end of the day, that was one less thing for me to purchase.
Speaking of magazines, you will need a ton! It’s better to have way too much than running out. Some people will cut one or two things and waste an entire magazine, so always make sure you have enough! Do not buy magazines! Y’all know i’m frugal and I had to find a way to save a dollar. I found magazines everywhere; my hair salon, my nail salon, at the airport, at the dentist and in the doctor’s office! I even had friends grab magazines from their grandma’s house (trust me, grandma got allllll the magazines somewhere in a corner in a basket).
✈ Have Mimosas!
Did you really throw a successful event if you didn’t have a mimosa bar and food?
This mimosa bar is definitely travel related with the super cute globe tags I created on my Cricut. If you can, check all the liquor stores in your area to price match champagne bottles. I found out that some stores may charge $7.99 for a case vs some stores that charged $4 per bottle. You might even catch a sale where you can buy one case and get one free! Just shop around before you buy.
✈Have Fun
It’s all about fun and millennials are all about the gram so make sure you have a cute area for photos worth posting. I rented a photo booth set up from Premier Events Atlanta.
✈ Last but not least (& everybody’s favorite part)-GIFT BAGS! Each gift bag contained travel size essentials that should be in everyones carry on bag.
Each bag contained one bracelet handcrafted by Wrists by Wilkes. Travel sized shampoo & conditioner provided by TAG Concept Salons. A travelers journal (found in Michael’s). Travel sized products from Bath & Body Works. Matches from White Barn. Mini sized alcohol bottles with the matching cocktail mixer. One makeup bag from Ipsy. A nail polish pad (because I hate chipped nails lol) and a feminine wipe-for the times other countries want to charge you for using their tissue.
I hope this post inspires you to step away from the ordinary. If you are planning a vision board party, I would LOVE to hear about it! If you have attended one in the past what are your thoughts about it? Did it help? Would you do it again? Let me know!!!
