Dear Diary,
If you’re planning on spending a day hiking or a trip outdoors, I made a list of everything you need! Proper attire can really make or break your adventure. I love a trip full of exploring and I’ve had my share of blisters, heat rashes and bug bites (ewww). I’m here to save you from a disaster, so here’s 7 things you should have before you plan a trip outdoor:
PROPER SHOES
Chacos are a necessity for every vacation (especially if you’re going hiking or walking around town). These sandals were made for a stylish outdoor adventure and my favorite part? Not only are they comfy, you get to customize them however you like! I love that I can send them in to get my straps changed whenever I please.
WATER
The next best thing to proper shoes, is staying hydrated! No more being basic and walking around holding water bottles that will be hot in less than 5 minutes. This came in pretty handy in Arizona where backpacks & purses weren’t allowed-we were recommended to bring these and it worked. This is also great for running around the neighborhood at home.
COOLING TOWEL
It was sooooo hot while we were hiking, I was so thankful to pull this cooling towel out of my bag. It cools instantly as you wet it & feels great against the skin. Just a little something something to keep you cool. Not only do you need this for outdoor vacations, but it works great when you’re doing yard work at home or going to an outdoor concert, even a jog around the block.
PORTABLE FAN
This fan is so clutch! All you have to do is attach it to your phone (iPhone or Android) and that’s it. When my friends and I were having photo shoots outside, this fan has saved our makeup from heat disasters lol. It also came in hand during my friend’s outside wedding as well as my hike in Arizona.
SUNSCREEN
I know this is obvious and I shouldn’t have to say it, but you should definitely protect yourself from the sun. Unless you’re hiking in 100% shade, take responsibility and love the skin you’re in. Pack a hat to cover your face and ears if possible.
BUG SPRAY
You never know how terrible the bugs will be while you’re hiking. Save yourself the headache and pack a bottle of bug spray or purchase the insect repellant wristbands.
WIPES
I have found wipes to be so convenient compared to the usual “paper”. No more packing baby wipes or rolling and saving toilet tissue for the restroom outdoors #basic. Call me crazy but it’s mandatory that I wipe my face after I go hiking! Plenty of companies now sell flushable wipes and they also have ‘paper shower’ wipes so you can refresh after being outdoors all day. Stay tuned, I will create a post of all my favorite wipes soon.
These are just the basics that you’ll need for a simple hiking/day trip! Once you have all of these, you’ll be ready to go!
Tip: Stay ahead of the game and buy these before you start planning your trip that way you’ll already have them and that’ll be one less thing you have to budget for.
HAPPY HIKING!
