Dear Diary,
After a failed attempt to fly standby to Thailand, I was stranded in Portland for 24 hours with nothing but my backpack. This is where I learned my lesson about checking bags! Well anyways, I wasn’t going to sit around and pout, I took it as an opportunity to try something new. My first stop was VooDoo Donuts. This place is a hot commodity for tourist and of course locals will say it’s overrated. There is a long line wrapped around the building, and word on the street, there is always a line wrapped along the beautiful glittered brick wall, so you’ve been warned. Once I made it inside, it took forever for me to decide which donuts to get (no wonder there’s a long line). After settling for my top two, I found out you can get an entire bucket for like 10-15 dollars—what a bust lol. The thought of trying to eat the whole bucket makes me sick lol BUT it’s cheaper to get the bucket than 4 single donuts lol. Safe to say the donuts were amazing and you should make this place a top priority if you ever visit Oregon.
My next stop was Lan Su Chinese Garden. This was a botanical garden like no other. I had no idea what I was getting into but my friend insisted we visit. We went in the middle of June and I loved that there was not much tourist there. It was so peaceful & we spent hours appreciating all that the garden had to offer. It literally felt like I was out in another country and not to mention, the photo shoot opportunities were amazing. If you’re into yoga or meditating, I believe this is the perfect place for you. In my opinion, I wouldn’t really add this to my travel list again however tickets are only $10 for adults, so maybe you will consider stopping here on your visit to Portland.
