Dear Diary,
Every graduate looks forward to the moment where they open envelopes and money falls into their lap. I remember that being my favorite part of my graduation day lol. I’ve seen people posting about saving money for graduation and designing gifts: money leis, money cakes, shadow boxes etc. Coming from a traveler, I thought the best gift would be disguising money in a travel themed photo album.
How it works:
Save $20 a month from birth! By the time your child turns 18 (high school graduation), you will have saved $4,320! If you prefer to wait until they graduate college, you will have saved $5,280.
Is $20 too much? Try doing $10 a month. That’s $2,160 for their high school graduation or $2,640 for his/her college graduation.
Once you’re done, place it in a photo album and present it. No bow/bag/wrapping paper needed lol. This money is a start of an endless opportunity. They can use this money to buy a passport and take a grad trip. And the best part, they already have a photo album to save the photos.
If you happen to miss a few months, you can find ways to alter your budget. If your student graduates 2018, you can simply use $2,018. If they graduate 2019 you can use $2,019 etc. Your graduate has worked so hard these years, they deserve it.
Congrats to all the graduates!
Would you prefer this money at your high school graduation or college?
This is freaking awesome! Totally will share this with my parents and hope that I’m so fortunate.
Great post!!
